Alien creature designs

Exploration of different designs for creatures on the alien planet. I wanted the creatures to resemble aquatic life on earth so that they were recognisable, unlike the main alien race which are soft skinned, i wanted to make these creatures seem more primitive and specialised to a particular environment so i based my designs off of crustaceans such as crabs. I wanted these creatures to appear different though so elongated the legs and played around with various shell shapes and mouth types, I particularity liked the idea of tentacles as it gave a more predatory look.
